ALAFIA EDUCATIONAL
My name is Dr. Mark Fenderson and I am a graduate of the University of North Texas, the University of South Florida, and the University of Southern Maine. I am an Assistant Professor of Music at Montana State University Billings and a member of the Billings Symphony Orchestra. My experience includes all aspects of trumpet playing, from being an orchestral musician to being a staff musician at both Disney World and Busch Gardens in Florida.

Alafia Music offers a variety of educational offerings, all of which are co-ordinated with the needs and ideals of the particular music program. All the Alafia ensembles are available for in-school presentations, workshops and clinics. These offerings are often done in conjunction with a formal concert.
A popular option to having a full ensemble give a presentation is to have a clinic given by just one specfic individual, depending on the instrument wanted.

My Trumpet Clinics cover all aspects of trumpet performance and musicianship, and include the following topics:

Sound production
Musical communication skills
A synopsis of styles and possibilities
Fundamentals of improvisation

I like to tailor the workshops to include student performances as well as my own. I find I can make strong, lasting points very well using the students themselves to illustrate the information. Versatilty is the key, however, and I am always flexible in working with everyone to provide a presentation that best suits their needs.
